Ceramic braces use the traditional method of fixed braces to move and realign misaligned teeth, but are made of clear ceramic blocks and thin metal wire for a more subtle looking finish.
Like fixed metal braces, ceramic braces make use of brackets and archwires to move the teeth into position. They exert a gentle pressure on the teeth, moving and realigning them so that, ultimately, they appear straighter and better aligned.
Ceramic braces are just as effective as metal braces, but they can take longer to achieve results, which means you could be wearing them for longer.
While ceramic braces can feel a little uncomfortable at first, overall they provide a more comfortable experience for the patient than traditional metal braces. This is because there is less friction which causes much less irritation.
